West Kern Consortium Districts Lead Kern County in Academic Growth
The West Kern Consortium for Full-Service Community Schools is proud to celebrate the exceptional academic gains of its member districts, as highlighted in the recently released 2025 CAASPP results. According to the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) data published on October 9th, several districts within the Consortium are making headlines for their significant strides in student proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics.
ELA Growth Champions
In English Language Arts, Maple and Semitropic School Districts topped the charts, taking the #1 and #2 spots in Kern County for year-over-year growth in proficiency. Their remarkable progress reflects the hard work of educators, students, and the broader school communities. Not far behind, Taft High and Wasco High earned the #4 and #5 positions, respectively, out of Kern County’s 46 school districts, further demonstrating the Consortium’s strength in literacy education.
Math Growth Leaders
Mathematics scores also saw significant improvements. Lost Hills School District achieved the #4 spot in Kern County, with an impressive 8.92% gain in proficiency from 2024 to 2025. Maple continued its strong showing with the #6 spot, and Wasco High followed closely at #8, underscoring the Consortium’s commitment to high-quality math instruction and student success.
Top Overall Proficiency Rankings
Beyond growth, West Kern Consortium districts are also leading in overall proficiency:
Maple ranks #3 in Kern County for both ELA and math proficiency, with a standout 50% math proficiency rate.
Wasco High holds strong positions in both subjects, ranking #8 overall in ELA.
Lost Hills secures the #10 spot in overall math proficiency, reflecting steady academic achievement.
