Did You Know? CIFFTA Is Now in West Kern!
The West Kern Consortium is proud to bring CIFFTA (Culturally Informed and Flexible Family-Based Treatment for Adolescents) to our local communities!
Created by experts at the University of Miami, CIFFTA is an evidence-based therapy model designed to support teens and their families through complex challenges like substance use, family conflict, trauma, and mental health concerns. What makes CIFFTA different? It’s customized to fit each family’s cultural values, strengths, and needs—because healing isn't one-size-fits-all.
This year, a staff member used CIFFTA to support a family struggling with grief and communication breakdowns after a major life event. Through a mix of individual and family sessions, the student learned new coping strategies, while the parents gained tools to rebuild trust and strengthen their relationship. Over time, the home environment improved—and so did the student’s attendance and outlook on school.
CIFFTA is now available to families in Wasco, Taft, Lost Hills, and surrounding areas.
